I forgot gloves in the coffin: a resident of Odessa region was convicted of desecration of the grave of the chief

In the Odessa region, the court imposed a suspended sentence on a man who excavated the grave of his former boss. So he wanted to make sure that he was definitely dead.

The incident occurred in early August 2020 in Tatarbunary. The defendant came to the local cemetery at night to remain unnoticed. With a shovel he dug up the grave and, reaching the coffin, broke its top lid.

The judge noted that the man had committed an outrage over the grave of his former boss because of hostile relations in the past.

– Seeing the face of the deceased, he was convinced whose corpse it was, and buried the grave. In the coffin at the head of the deceased, he left rubber gloves that he wore when he dug up the grave—” the report says.

The mother of the buried man said at the trial that her son died in July 2020, and since then she has been coming to the cemetery every day. In early August, together with her daughter-in-law, the woman left for Kiev, and the defendant probably took advantage of this.

The next morning after the incident, the mother received a call from the cemetery security and was informed that the earth was scattered on her son’s grave and wreaths were turned over. The woman urgently returned to Tatarbunary and appealed to law enforcement.

– The police exhumed, excavated the grave and found that the lid of the coffin in the head area was broken, earth was poured into the coffin and yellow rubber gloves were lying, – the message says.

The defendant man fully admitted his guilt and publicly asked for forgiveness the family of the deceased.

The court decision also states that the “grave digger” has already been convicted of theft with penetration, and is also registered with a narcologist with a diagnosis of opium addiction.

The man was found guilty of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 297 (Grave abuse) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. In addition to two years of suspended sentence, he was also awarded to pay almost 17 thousand UAH for the work of an expert.
