Main points
- China is helping Russia modernize its military by transferring technology and equipment, in particular for the production of missile weapons.
- Chinese citizens fighting on Russia's side are gaining important combat experience, and Beijing says it cannot allow Russia to lose the war.
-
Xi Jinping came to Moscow on May 9, which looks like a visit to China's “northern province”, which the US does not like.
China is not yet an official party to the war against Ukraine, but it is using all possible methods to help modernize the Russian army. Most of the advanced technologies in the war are definitely the work of Beijing.
This opinion was expressed to 24 Kanal by the executive director of the Ukrainian Center for Security and Cooperation, Dmitry Zhmailo, noting that Xi Jinping is essentially turning Russia into his province. Meanwhile, for the US, this is a very unfavorable scenario.
How Beijing Helped Russia Modernize Its Army
According to the executive director of the Ukrainian Center for Security and Cooperation, on May 9, Russia officially confirmed that the Russian-Ukrainian war is not a war of pan-European level, it is a war of global level. Thus, eastern autocrats are fighting against western democracy.
When Xi Jinping arrived in Moscow that day, it looked as if it was the Chinese leader who had arrived in his “northern province.” This is exactly what Donald Trump doesn't like, because his idea is that China is the main rival from which Russia can be torn away and eventually made into an ally of the United States.
China does not transfer weapons to Russia, but it does transfer machines for their production. Thus, for the first time during a full-scale invasion, Russia begins to produce and increase its stockpiles of missile weapons. There is also testing of advanced technologies – the Russian military has such a breakthrough thing as drones on fiber optics, resistant to electronic warfare. I will never believe that the Russians came up with this, – he emphasized.
At the same time, according to Zhmailo, Chinese citizens who fight on the side of the Russian army can be called sabotage and reconnaissance groups. They acquire invaluable combat experience in modern warfare, which is important for Beijing.
Also important is the statement by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who said that Beijing cannot allow Russia to lose the war in Ukraine. This shows that the aggressor country is not all right and has concerns.
