Hurricane “Milton” has already reached the coast of Florida. State authorities have sent more than 5.5 million people evacuation notices due to the elements.
The New York Times reports this.
“Milton” is the largest hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico since 2005. Evacuation operations began earlier this week. They are already being called one of the largest operations of this type in the history of the state.
The epicenter of the elements is expected to hit the central-west coast of Florida. This region includes Tampa, a city with a population of 3.3 million people. It has not been hit by a direct storm since 1921.
“This hurricane is a disaster, and I will say this without any dramatization: if you decide to stay in one of these evacuation zones, you will die,” said Tampa Mayor Jane Castor.
The city of St. Petersburg received almost 23 centimeters of rain in three hours, which is the three-month average rainfall for this city.
