Hungary sent a letter to EU countries with complaints about Ukraine: what are we talking about?

Budapest again accuses Ukraine of oppressing national minorities.

Attics sent out a letter to EU member countries with complaints against Ukraine on the issue of protecting the Hungarian national minority.

The corresponding letter was at the disposal of Radio Liberty.

In its letter, Hungary demands that the rights of the Hungarian minority be returned to the level they were before 2015. In particular, about the free use of the Hungarian language in Ukraine, as well as the right to political representation at the regional and national levels.

“Contrary to previous promises, the needs of representatives of the Hungarian society in Ukraine were ignored, for example, in the case of determining the subjects that should be taught in Ukrainian in schools of the Hungarian minority,” the letter states.

In addition, Budapest is dissatisfied with the change in the population ratio after the changes in the boundaries of administrative regions in Ukraine. In particular, Hungary considers the minimum 10% representation of national minorities for linguistic rights unjustified, and demands its own delegate in the Verkhovna Rada.

Recall that it was previously reported that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban called the European Union “imperial occupiers” and Western countries “a source of incivility and destruction” .

In addition, we previously reported that The President of Slovakia criticized Prime Minister Fico because of the “inspiration” he draws from Hungary.
