The loan was provided by the China Development Bank, the Export-Import Bank of China and the Hungarian branch of the Bank of China. It has already been fully used and must be repaid within three years.
Official Budapest kept silent about the agreement, but on Thursday the Hungarian business publication Portfolio reported on it, and later the government agency confirmed it.
Hungary has a record external debt and has used the new loan to finance investments in infrastructure and the energy sector. The agreement maintains the public debt to GDP ratio at 28.9 percent
