The government in Budapest is delaying a four-year support package for Ukraine worth 50 billion euros.

Hungary is ready to lift its veto on the European Union proposal on financing Ukraine in exchange for €30 billion that the EU blocked for Budapest.

This was stated by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán Balazs's chief political adviser in an interview with Bloomberg.

Journalists recalled that the government in Budapest is delaying a four-year support package for the amount of 50 billion euros (54 billion dollars) for Kiev.

“Balázs’s remarks indicate that Hungary is seeking a high price for its consent, which may be difficult for the rest of the bloc to accept,” the news agency said.

Budapest would “consider contributing” to the package, he said, but under certain conditions.

“EU funding for Hungary and funding for Ukraine are two separate issues. But if the EU insists that funding for Ukraine comes from a revised EU budget, then the two issues become linked,” he said.

Balash added that Hungary wants the EU to hand over the full amount? which was suspended last year due to “rule of law and bribery” issues.

Recall that according to the journalist of the Brussels bureau of Radio Liberty Rikard Jozwiak, Hungary is blocking all questions on Ukraine at the EU summit.
