Human error has been named as the cause of the blocking of the Suez Canal

The head of the Suez Canal Administration, Osama Rabia, said that the incident with the container ship Ever Given, which caused the blocking of the Suez Canal, was due to human error, TASS reports.

According to him, this is evidenced by the result of the analysis of the available data.

“There is a possibility that the captain made a mistake in steering or speed regulation,” said Rabia.

He also noted that a pilot from the canal administration was present on the ship, but reiterated that the Suez Canal leadership was not responsible for the incident.

Recall, on March 23, the container ship Ever Given, en route from China to the Netherlands, ran aground in the Suez Canal and blocked traffic in both directions. The situation was resolved only on March 29, when the ship was towed from the scene of the accident. Incorrect maneuver made by the captain of the container ship is said to be the cause of the incident. In addition, the situation was aggravated by bad weather conditions.
