Human DNA turned out to be unique by only 7%

by alex

A new study has shown that only 7% of the human genome is unique to him as a species, that is, not found in other ancient people.

Scientists say this is a very small percentage. “Such discoveries are the reason why scientists refuse to think that we humans are so different from Neanderthals,” explained one of the study's authors.

The work used DNA extracted from Neanderthals and Denisovans, as well as from 279 modern humans.

Scientists also saw that a very small part of the genome – only 1.5% – is unique and common to all people living in the world. The researchers said that these regions of the genome are highly enriched in genes that are related to neural development and brain function.

Overall, the discovery shows that we are a very young species. Not long ago, we shared the planet with other kinds of people.
