Huge floating solar power plant opened in Singapore
A huge floating solar farm has officially opened in Singapore. It is located on the Tenge reservoir. The constructed enterprise is one of the largest power plants of this type in the world, writes Euronews.
It is supposed to help the country quadruple solar energy production by 2025. The 60 megawatt power plant consists of 122,000 solar panels and covers an area of 45 hectares – about 45 football fields.
Singapore, although a small island nation, has big problems with reducing emissions. The country ranks 29th in terms of carbon dioxide per capita – according to 2019, there were 9.09 tons per person. In addition, the island is densely populated, so it was difficult to find a place for the implementation of “green” initiatives – then the authorities decided to use the potential of the water space.
