Rumors circulated online that Huawei's server business could be sold. The reason for this is the expiration of the license for chips manufactured by Intel.
It is reported that Huawei will sell its x86 server division. First, a special commission from Suzhou will take control over it.
According to the financial report of Huawei, the revenue of this division fell by $ 3.9 billion last year. These problems are clearly related to the US sanctions.
The fact is that the American Intel owns 95% of the world market for chips used in servers, and 99% of the market for x86 servers. Until 2019, Huawei servers were powered by Intel chips. However, after the introduction of sanctions, many business processes have changed. Now that Intel's license to ship Huawei chips has expired, there is no way to renew it. Therefore, the decision of the Chinese company seems logical.
So far, neither Intel nor Huawei have made any public announcements on this topic.
