In April, Huawei smartphones are to be gradually switched to Harmony OS.
The presentation of the new Huawei top models P50 and P50 Pro is expected in April. The first smartphones from the Chinese manufacturer are to be equipped with the in-house operating system Harmony OS as standard.
After the launch of the P50 series, older Huawei phones will also be switched to Harmony OS. This is reported by several media outlets, citing information that has been leaked on Weibo.
Hundreds of millions of Harmony OS devices by the end of the year
TV sets, smartwatches and other gadgets already run on Harmony OS. By the end of the year, Huawei wants to have 300 to 400 million devices equipped with Harmony OS.
When Huawei announced its own mobile operating system, there was talk of an Android competitor. But in the end there shouldn't be much left of the announcements.
Harmony OS as an Android copy
Essentially, Harmony OS should be an Android fork, i.e. an Android fork. In many code parts of the Huawei clone, only the term “Android” should have been replaced by “Harmony OS”.
Users will notice even fewer differences as the Huawei EMUI user interface is used on the smartphones. There is much evidence to suggest that numerous functions were simply copied from Android 10. However, Google services will not run on the Huawei operating system.
Giant camera sensor for Huawei P50
Apart from Harmony OS, the camera setup of the P50 series is said to be equipped with an IMX800 sensor from Sony. This has a sensor size of an entire inch, which would be a significant increase compared to the previous version. The P40 series had a 1 / 1.28 inch sensor installed – the Huawei P40 Pro in the futurezone test.
