Huawei has introduced new smartphones of the flagship Mate 40 series with a proprietary processor. The recording of the presentation is available on the company's YouTube channel.
The list of new devices includes smartphones Huawei Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro and Mate 40 Pro +. The top devices of the series received a 6.7-inch OLED display with a picture display frequency of 90 hertz and a flagship eight-core Kirin 9000 chip with 5G support and a Mali-G78 graphics accelerator. The base flagship Mate 40 turned out to be equipped with a 6.5-inch screen and a Kirin 9000E processor. Earlier, sources said that due to US sanctions, the Kirin 9000 line of processors will be the last for Huawei devices. The gadgets received up to 12 gigabytes of RAM and up to 512 gigabytes of internal memory in the form of UFS 3.1. The top-end devices also have a 4400 milliampere-hour battery with 66 watt fast charging.
The flagships are distinguished by the device of the main cameras, the lenses of which are placed in a ring on the back of the gadgets. The Mate 40 came with a three-sensor camera with a resolution of 50, 16 and 8 megapixels. The Mate 40 Pro has three lenses: a main one with a resolution of 50 megapixels, a wide-angle resolution of 20 megapixels and a telephoto lens with 12 megapixels. The top gadget of the Mate 40 Pro + series was released with a camera for four sensors with a resolution of 50, 20, 12 and 8 megapixels. All smartphones are equipped with an additional 3D sensor.
The Mate 40 series smartphones have Android 10 support, but they came out without Google services. The restrictions are caused by the US sanctions imposed on the Chinese corporation back in May 2019. Instead of Google products familiar to European consumers, it uses its own Huawei Mobile Services (HMS).
The cost of Huawei Mate 40 for the version with eight gigabytes of RAM and 128 gigabytes of internal memory is 900 euros, Mate 40 Pro with eight gigabytes of RAM and 256 gigabytes of ROM – 1200 euros. The top Mate 40 Pro + with 12 gigabytes of RAM was priced at 1,400 euros. The limited edition Mate 40 RS will be available for 2,300 euros.
In early October, it became known that the Huawei Mate 40 series smartphones will be the first for which the HarmonyOS operating system will be released. The first beta version of the OS will become available in December 2021.
