How the West can stop Russia: Sikorsky proposed an unexpected scenario

According to the Polish minister, the West should remember Reagan's strategy towards the USSR and defeat Putin in the escalation game.

Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski believes that Russia can be defeated, and the West is capable of it to do.

The Polish minister expressed this opinion during a lecture at the British Ditchley Foundation, excerpts from which he published on his page on the social network X.

According to him, if Western countries do not stop the Kremlin dictator, there is a risk that Russia could win the war in Ukraine. But defeating Russia is not an impossible task.

“Despite its crazy propaganda, Russia is not invincible. It has lost some of its wars. The Kremlin can be stopped and even defeated – we just forgot about it. Ronald Reagan said that his strategy towards the Soviet Union was simple, if not simplistic: “We win, and they lose.” I like that approach,” Sikorski noted.

The minister emphasized that in order to gain an advantage over Russia, it is necessary to relearn how to win the escalation game. One possible step, for example, is the confiscation of all 300 billion euros of Russian sovereign assets.

“Putin has already written them off, he does not hope to get them back. But he also thinks that we do not have the courage to take them back. So far, we are proving that he is right,” Sikorski emphasized.

According to the diplomat, Putin regrets the collapse of the USSR. Therefore, the war he unleashed in Ukraine is a “revenge match” and a challenge to European values, security and the Western way of life in general.

“We must prevent the conflict from spreading, but we must also win. Together, as part of an international alliance of democracies, we can do this,” he said.

Radoslaw Sikorski also warned that if Russia wins the war against Ukraine, it will strengthen the “global coalition of dictatorships,” which will lead to instability not only in Europe, but throughout the world.

We recall that, according to political scientist Andrei Piontkovsky, Putin's ultimatum regarding the ceasefire in Ukraine is in fact recognition of his defeats.
