In his opinion, Chinese assistance to the Russians in the long run may turn into a problem for Ukraine.
Even if China does decide to supply Russia with weapons, this will not change the situation on the battlefield in the short term.
This opinion was expressed by the Supreme Commander of the NATO Allied Forces in Europe (2013-2016), retired General Philip Breedlove, Ukrinform reports.
“I don't think that this [delivery of lethal aid from China – Ed.] will significantly change the situation in the short term,” the retired general said.
Breedlove expressed hope that the war in Ukraine would not be long. He urged the West to provide Ukraine with “everything that is necessary for victory.”
“I believe if we give Ukraine what it needs to win, it will quickly achieve it. In this case, according to him, supplies from China will have little effect,” the general is sure.
At the same time, he warned that if this war drags on, Chinese aid to Russia could become a problem for Ukraine in the long run.
Earlier, NBC reported that China could provide Russia with artillery and ammunition. The American CIA also suggests that China may send lethal weapons to Russia in the war against Ukraine.
The same information was reported by the leading German publication Der Spiegel. According to them, Beijing and Moscow are allegedly negotiating the purchase of 100 attack drones.
The head of the GUR, Kirill Budanov, believes that at present, China will not agree to the transfer of weapons to Russia.
