How the Russian Federation wants to turn the opinion of people in Europe against Ukraine before the elections: the US warned

The aggressor state has resorted, is resorting and will resort to such actions.

The United States believes that Russia will conduct a series of information operations to turn public opinion in Europe against Ukraine. As you know, dozens of countries around the world will elect new leaders in 2024, and elections to the European Parliament will also be held in June.

Reuters writes about this.

The method does not change

According to Special Envoy and Global Engagement Center (GEC) Coordinator Jamie Rubin, Russia and China are working around the world to pass off government propaganda as independent journalism while hiding its true source. He argues that this year's main threats come from Europe, which has been united in providing military and financial assistance to Ukraine since Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine.

“Russia hopes that elections in Europe this year can change what has been a remarkable coalition and disciplined opposition to its war. We think the Russians will conduct information operations across Europe to try to change opinion on Ukraine during this election season,” he noted.

Rubin added that the GEC had previously discovered an attempt throughout Russian-funded Latin America to feed propaganda and disinformation to local news outlets. Russia then called the accusations unfounded.

A declassified intelligence assessment sent to more than 100 governments last year also said Moscow is using spies, social media and Russian state media to undermine public faith in the integrity of democratic elections.

Previously, former US President and candidate for the 2024 elections, Donald Trump, after his victory in Iowa, made a scandalous statement about the war in Ukraine. He said that if he comes to power in the United States, he will end the war “very quickly” because he “gets along great with Putin.”
