Journalist Vitaly Portnikov described a scenario of what could happen within 24 hours after the possible election of Donald Trump as President of the United States.
He spoke about this on the Espreso TV channel.
“It turns out that Trump will not be able to reach any agreements on compromise terms with Putin. Putin will clearly state to his [Trump's] advisers that he wants all of Ukraine immediately, and also to apologize to him. Trump will of course go crazy , as always happens with him, and will help Ukraine and try to destabilize the situation in regions that are important for the Russian Federation,” the political observer suggested.
According to him, such the situation could lead to the expansion of the Russian-Ukrainian war, since Trump, after being disappointed by Putin, may give permission to shell Russian territory.
“I believe that the election of Trump may be a prelude to a direct clash between the West and Russia with completely unpredictable consequences. In principle, we must understand that the election of Trump will be the beginning of a big war. Since Trump, unlike Biden, will not “calculate the consequences of his actions. He hits first, and then thinks,” added Portnikov.
Recall that the 2024 presidential candidate Donald Trump said that if he comes to power in the United States, he will “very quickly” end the war in Ukraine because he “gets along great with Putin.”
