According to him, the entire NATO bloc perceives Russia as the greatest threat in Europe.
It will take five to seven years to restore Russia's full combat capability, but this will depend on the results of the war against Ukraine.
This was stated by Czech President Petr Pavel following the meeting of the heads of state of the Visegrad Group (V4), reports Ceske Noviny.
According to current calculations, Russia will need at least five to seven years to restore its combat capability, Pavel said, answering a question about the potential threat to NATO.
“On the other hand, there are many variables in the calculation that can change the situation. It will really depend on what the result of the conflict in Ukraine will be,” stated the President of the Czech Republic.
According to him, the entire NATO bloc perceives Russia as the greatest threat in Europe. European countries are preparing for a possible “high-intensity conflict” on the continent and are increasing spending on defense and army training, Pavel added.
The Czech President also assured that Ukraine’s support is important for the security of the V4 countries and meets their national interests.
At the same time, Pavel admitted that the approaches of the Visegrad Group countries to some issues regarding Ukraine may differ, but in general “no diametrically opposed views were expressed.”
Let us remind you that the Visegrad Group includes Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. The association was created on February 15, 1991.
Earlier, Czech President Petr Pavel said that the West was slowing down the supply of weapons necessary for success at the front in Ukraine.
