The US House of Representatives re-approved the $ 740 billion defense budget for fiscal year 2021, overcoming President Donald Trump's veto. TASS reports.
The Senate of Congress will now meet on December 29 to adopt this document. It provides, in particular, for sanctions against Russia due to the projects of the Nord Stream 2 and Turkish Stream gas pipelines. In addition, the project provides for the allocation of $ 635.5 billion for basic needs of the Pentagon, $ 26.6 billion for the implementation of national security programs through the Department of Energy, and $ 69 billion for operations abroad. In fiscal 2020, the budget was $ 738 billion.
On December 23, Trump vetoed the country's defense budget passed by both houses of Congress. He noted that China would benefit the most from the adoption of the resolution. The US President also pointed out that the document does not include critical measures necessary to ensure national security.
