Violation of corona rules: Inter striker Romelu Lukaku
On the night of his 28th birthday, professional footballer Romelu Lukaku received a penalty in Milan for violating the Corona regulations. The Italian Carabinieri confirmed media reports on Thursday that the Inter Milan striker was stopped with teammates and received a fine. After the champions' 3-1 win over AS Roma, Lukaku had dinner with a larger group – including other players – in a hotel, the reports said.
According to the ANSA news agency, sources from the club environment rejected information that it was a birthday party that was too big for pandemic rules. Rather, the group ate what is allowed in the hotel after the late game. However, some then decided not to sleep there, but at home. They were reported and stopped by the Carabinieri for violating the nocturnal exit restrictions, it said. However, ANSA also mentioned a “small present” for the birthday child.
In the media reports there was previously talk of a “festival” with over 20 people. The newspaper “Gazzetta dello Sport” reported that in addition to Lukaku, three other Inter players received fines for leaving the hotel at around 3:00 am. Congratulations for the Belgian could be read on the Inter website on Thursday: “Happy birthday, Romelu!”
