The suspect suffers from drug addiction.

The son of the owner of the pizzeria “L'Olivier” in the city of Issy-les-Moulineaux took hostages and barricaded himself in his father's establishment around midday on Saturday, November 16. He is holding at least four people.

BFMTV reports this.

“A man armed with a knife locked himself in his father's restaurant,” the Paris police headquarters reported.

According to journalists, the suspect suffers from drug addiction. The hostages are most likely employees of the pizzeria, since there were no customers in the restaurant at the time of the seizure.

The police did not report what demands the suspect is making, but specified that he is threatening to commit suicide. In connection with this, a qualified negotiator was called to the scene.

It is known that the suspect had previous arrests by the police, but has no criminal record.

Police cars and armed law enforcement officers are blocking off the areas adjacent to the restaurant. The police cordoned off the security perimeter around the restaurant and blocked vehicle traffic.

Recall that in the US, at least 104 McDonald's customers have fallen ill and 34 have been hospitalized as a result of an outbreak of food poisoning from E. coli. As it turns out, this is due to onions that were served in royal cheeseburgers.
