The accident occurred at night on the A19 highway near the town of Rebel. About 100 km northwest of Berlin. At about 2:30 a.m., the bus with 54 passengers and two drivers overturned into a ditch. A total of 23 people were injured. One man was hospitalized in serious condition after a two-hour operation to free him from the mangled bus. Passengers with minor injuries were also taken to hospitals for examination.
According to the police and carriers, there were Ukrainian citizens among the passengers. The exact number is not specified. There were also citizens of Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Poland, France, the Czech Republic, Italy, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Georgia, China, Syria, India, Australia, Mexico, Bangladesh, Canada and Japan on board.
Emergency services worked at the scene of the accident for a long time, and the road in the direction of Berlin was closed. The bus was lifted with the help of two cranes.
The carrier company expressed condolences to the victims. Another bus was organized to take the unharmed passengers to Berlin, where they will be assisted with further pick-up in Vienna.
