Baumgartlinger

Will ÖFB team captain Julian Baumgartlinger still make it to the EM? The Levenkusen legionnaire trained again on Tuesday.

On January 23, the 33-year-old midfielder tore a cruciate ligament in the Bundesliga duel between his “Werkself” and Wolfsburg just five minutes after being substituted on. Almost three months later, the ÖFB legionnaire is back on the training ground.

Baumgartlinger completed an individual training on the field on Tuesday for the first time after his cruciate ligament operation. The German “Werkself” posted pictures of the solo session on social networks.

That now feeds the hopes of the red-white-red football fans that Baumgartlinger could still make it to the European Championship. How much the captain of the ÖFB-Elf is going was evident in the first three World Cup qualifiers.

The European Championship kick-off will take place on June 13 in Bucharest against North Macedonia. In Group C there are still duels against the Netherlands in Amsterdam (June 17) and again in Bucharest against the Ukraine (June 21).
