She took part in a crime also the mother of a young woman.

Police in the West Indian state of Maharashtra have detained a teenager suspected of having cut off the head of his pregnant sister. The murder took place in the Aurangabad area. A 19-year-old girl ran away from her family in June and married her lover – her family was against it.

BBC News Ukraine writes about this.

It is noted that after marriage the young woman had almost no contact with her family, but her mother visited her a week before the murder. Police said she knew her daughter was pregnant.

She was making tea for her brother and mother when she was attacked with a sickle. The teenager and his mother then surrendered to the police.

The victim's brother was sent to a juvenile detention center after his lawyer said he was under 18.

However, the police say that this requirement will be challenged in court, because they found a certificate confirming that the man is an adult. The mother was taken into custody.

Police also suspect that they also took a selfie with the woman's head severed.

It should be noted that, according to activists, hundreds of people are killed every year in India for falling in love or marrying against the wishes of their families.

These killings are often referred to as “honor killings” due to centuries of tradition and family an honor that is still deeply rooted in many parts of Indian society.
