Thousands of believers came to Jerusalem, waiting for the miracle of the ascension of the Holy Fire.
Today, April 23, The Holy Fire came down in the Jerusalem Church of the Holy Sepulcher.< /strong>
The ceremony of ascending the Holy Fire is held annually on Holy Saturday before Easter by the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem and the Jerusalem Patriarchate of the Armenian Apostolic Church. The rite of ascent is performed in the Kuvuklia (chapel) of the Holy Sepulcher.
The removal of the Holy Fire symbolizes the resurrection of Jesus Christ. After the ascent, according to tradition, the fire will be handed over to believers and representatives of Christian denominations, who will carry it around the world.
According to legend, if the fire does not rise, it means the end of the world. This year a miracle happened.
