Holocaust Memorial Destroyed in Hanover

In the German city of Hanover, an attacker destroyed flower wreaths laid in memory of Holocaust victims near the memorial complex “Ahlem”.

Local police reported that the crime, which is being investigated by the State Security Department, was committed on the night of January 29.

The wreaths damaged by the attacker were laid during an official ceremony for Holocaust Remembrance Day, which was attended by the president of the Lower Saxony state parliament, Anna Naber.

Law enforcement officials say that a total of nine memorial wreaths were destroyed, some of them were thrown into the garden or stolen. The CCTV camera captured the attacker.

“It is inglorious that there are still people in this country who question or even approve of the unjust regime and the extermination policy of the National Socialists,” said Steffen Krach, president of the Hanover region.

Earlier it was reported that in the French capital, Paris, unknown persons desecrated a memorial to the victims of the Holocaust by painting red graffiti on it.
