Marcel Hirscher aims high with his ski brand “VanDeer” and plans to enter the Ski World Cup. For this he is already looking for athletes.
On Wednesday, Hirscher let the cat out of the bag and the eight-time overall World Cup winner presented his own ski brand. With “VanDeer”, Hirscher not only wants to bring skis to the market for popular sports, but also wants to get into the ski circuit. “This ski will win races,” the 32-year-old promised at the presentation.

To do this, however, Hirscher first has to find athletes who can start the World Cup on his skis. “I've been scouting candidates for a year. Only they don't know, “smiled the Salzburg man, but also made it clear:” It won't be easy to find someone who wants to go along with this uncompromising attitude. We're talking about professional sport. The runners also have to meet my high standards. “
Hirscher himself was always a tinkerer, took the further development of the material to a new level. The current ski builder also expects this from his athletes.
Hirscher did not mention names, of course, but stated: “You can also see it as a unique opportunity in your life.” It is possible that the first contracts will be signed at the end of January. “Maybe there is already more to report in Kitzbühel.”
But it is also clear: If Hirscher wants to sign a red-white-red ski star, his brand must first be included in the Austria Ski Pool. This also ensures that young athletes are equipped with ski equipment.
In any case, there is still a little time left to scout suitable candidates. “The goal is to be in the World Cup in 2022/23,” explained the Salzburg native. A season in which the World Ski Championships in Courchevel and Meribel are on the program. And a medal will be the first big goal of the new ski brand …
