Security personnel discovered hidden cameras placed in the women’s toilet in the building of the Australian Embassy in Bangkok. The scandalous incident that occurred in Thailand is reported by the Thaiger portal.
After the incident, law enforcement officers detained a former IT specialist of the embassy. It turned out that he has dual citizenship — the man is a citizen of Australia and Thailand. In the past, he worked for various Australian firms and government organizations. The Australian authorities officially confirmed on February 5 that the man had been arrested.
It is clarified that the attacker placed mini-video cameras so that the visitors of women’s showers and toilet cubicles got into the lens. The presence of cameras became known after one of the employees found a memory card for a video camera on the toilet floor. While law enforcement officers find it difficult to specify how long the women were followed.
The building, which now houses the embassy, was transferred to the diplomatic mission in 2017. According to Thaiger, representatives of the embassy consider the installation of cameras not only as an illegal interference in the privacy of citizens, but also as a serious violation of the security of the diplomatic mission.
Earlier it was reported that the American accidentally discovered a surveillance camera in the fitting room of a popular store and became famous online. 27-year-old Nallely Valencia said that she went shopping at the Windsor boutique in the Vintage Faire shopping center, which is located in Modesto, California. According to the blogger, while trying things on, she accidentally saw a hidden camera mounted on the ceiling directly above the booth.
