The pro-Iranian armed group in Lebanon allegedly numbers more than 100 thousand militants.
On Wednesday, June 19, the leader of the Lebanese Shiite Hezbollah group Hassan Nasrallah threatened to use “new weapons” in response to a possible full-scale invasion by the Israeli army, and also warned of possible attacks on Cyprus.
This is reported by France24 with reference to a television broadcast of a speech by the leader of an Iran-backed terrorist group.
“The enemy knows very well that we have prepared for the worst… He knows that not a single place will be bypassed by our missiles and that he must wait for us on land, at sea and from the air,” he said in Nasrallah's speech.
According to him, Hezbollah has refused an offer from several regional “resistance” groups to send aid to Lebanon because it believes its ranks are large enough.
“I told them that what we have is enough and more than what is needed to fight,” the Shiite cleric said in his speech.
Nasrallah claims that he has managed to assemble more than 100,000 fighters with “new weapons” and sufficient intelligence capabilities.
Hassan Nasrallah has threatened Cyprus for the first time, saying that Hezbollah could consider it “part of the war” if it continues to allow Israel to use its airports and bases for military exercises.
“Opening Cypriot airports and bases to the Israeli enemy to target Lebanon would mean that the Cypriot government is part of the war and the resistance will deal with it as part of the war,” Nasrallah said in the same speech.
The day before, the Israeli military said it had approved plans for an offensive in Lebanon amid intensifying cross-border clashes with Hezbollah and the war in the Gaza Strip between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas.
Recall that Iran carried out a massive missile and drone attack on Israel on the evening of April 13. There had been hostility between Tehran and Jerusalem before, but the international community called this strike “unprecedented.” This is the first ever direct attack by Israel from Iranian territory. Why this attack happened and what consequences the attack may have for Ukraine, military expert Oleg Zhdanov told the TSN.ua website in a commentary.
