Hezbollah Celebrates Iran's Victory

Lebanon's militant group Hezbollah on Wednesday hailed its ally Iran's “victory” over Israel after 12 days of war, declaring it the beginning of a “new historical phase.”

France24 reports this.

In its statement, Hezbollah praised the Islamic Republic's “glorious divine victory,” which it allegedly “manifested in the precise and painful blows it dealt” to Israel, as well as in its “lightning-fast response to American aggression against nuclear facilities.”

“This is nothing less than the beginning of a new historical stage in the confrontation with American hegemony and Zionist arrogance in the region,” Hezbollah said.

The Lebanese group, which has been backed by Iran since its emergence in the 1980s, stressed that “any capitulation, submission or concession will only strengthen the arrogance and dominance of our enemies over our region.”

Later that day, hundreds of people gathered outside the Iranian embassy in Beirut, responding to Hezbollah's call to celebrate the culmination of the Iranian people's struggle, which “defeated Israeli-American aggression.”

Ahmed Mohebbi, 42, who was among those present, said: “We are very happy about this victory that Iran has achieved despite the blows it has suffered and the attacks from America and Israel aimed at preventing it from continuing its nuclear programme.”

Hezbollah parliamentary bloc chairman Mohammed Raad said in a speech that Iran is a “regional deterrent” that has proven itself through its “steadfastness” and by standing up to “a tyrannical enemy that sought to impose its hegemony on the entire region.”

Recall that on June 13, Israel began a large-scale bombing of Iranian nuclear and military facilities, as well as targeted attacks on leading scientists and commanders.

The Israeli strikes killed at least 627 civilians and wounded more than 4,800, according to Iran's Health Ministry.

Iran's retaliatory attacks on Israel have killed 28 people, according to Israel.

The United States struck Iranian nuclear sites on Sunday after days of Israeli strikes, but a secret intelligence report concluded the attacks only delayed Tehran's nuclear program by months.
