The transformation of American assistance will occur only after Ukraine is able to independently meet its needs.

US State Department Statement on Military assistance that will not be provided at the 2022-2023 level should not be taken as an intention to reduce support for Ukraine.

The speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleg Nikolenko said this on Friday, January 5, in a comment to obozrevatel.

He explained that from the context of the statement by State Department Speaker Matthew Miller, it is clear that he meant the transformation of assistance only after Ukraine is able to independently meet its needs.

< p>“While we need support, it is extremely important that the US Congress decide as quickly as possible on further funding of assistance to Ukraine in the stated amount. Supporting Ukraine is not charity. First of all, it is an investment in American national security and the protection of world democracy” , – commented Nikolenko.

According to a Foreign Ministry spokesman, during contacts at all levels, the United States “demonstrates a clear understanding of the critical need to provide” Ukraine with all the necessary military and financial assistance “so that we achieve victory.”

Recall that State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said at a briefing on January 4 that the United States will not provide military assistance to Ukraine at the same level as it was in 2022-2023, but this does not mean the end of American support. According to him, Washington’s goal is to help Kyiv “stand on its own feet.”
