The use of combat helicopters against drones in the Nagorno-Karabakh region is problematic, since a helicopter at medium and high altitudes becomes a good target for enemy anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM). Writes about this “Military-Industrial Courier”.
The newspaper considered that during the conflict, Armenia did not use electronic warfare (EW) complexes, and also neglected to build an echeloned air defense system (air defense). In particular, it is noted that in order to counter the Azerbaijani drones and missiles, the Armenian side could use modern modular air defense systems “Tor-M2KM”, portable anti-aircraft missile systems (MANPADS) “Strela-2”, “Igla” and “Verba”, as well as anti-aircraft missile and gun complex (ZRPK) “Pantsir-S1”.
“However, we have not seen the cover of the most important objects, as well as expensive weapons systems and military equipment with the help of quite modern anti-aircraft missile weapons,” the weekly writes, admitting that the use of most modern systems, in particular, the Tor-M2KM, can be too expensive for the Armenian side.
The publication reports that Baku was much more prepared for drones and air defense systems than Yerevan, however, in terms of armored vehicles, both sides “fought the war as if the street was still the end of the 20th century.”
In November, Konstantin Makienko, Deputy Director of the Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies (CAST), commenting on the results of the latest conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, in which, in his opinion, Russia was the loser, said that currently the Armed Forces of Ukraine have weapons systems that Russia does not have. , namely, third-generation anti-tank missile systems and kamikaze drones.
