Europe continues to suffer from abnormal heat. Authorities in many countries are already on alert to respond quickly to possible consequences.
In Spain and Portugal, the temperature reached a record +46. The heat did not bypass France and Turkey, where forest fires began.
The Times writes about this.
An unprecedented number of heat warnings have been issued across France. Temperatures in the country reached 35°C on Monday, July 1, and are now expected to rise even higher.
France recorded its hottest day on record in June, with temperatures at the top of Mont Blanc rising above freezing for the first time, threatening to melt ice and snow.
“We already see that the glaciers are in trouble and it's only the beginning of summer, so this is worrying for the coming years,” said Météo France forecaster Manon Boisdon.
In Spain, which had already seen its hottest three years, the heatwave broke records in the city of Huelva, near the Portuguese border. Since Saturday, a heat dome has enveloped almost the entire country. It was one of the hottest Junes since records began in 1961. Portugal also experienced similar heat.
Greece remains on high alert for wildfires as a dangerous combination of high temperatures and storm winds creates “extreme risk” conditions in several parts of the country, disrupting ferry services and straining firefighting resources.
Let us recall that in Ukraine, according to weather forecasters, heat is expected in most regions on July 3, 4 and 5.
