The Delta coronavirus, also known as B. 1.617.2, has spread to more than 60 countries in the past six months. Research shows that Delta is 60% more infectious than the previously dominant strain, the Kent variant.
To date, scientists have managed to isolate symptoms that may indicate the presence of this strain in the body. These are hearing impairments, severe indigestion and thrombosis leading to gangrene, according to Express.co.uk.
It is also noted that with the strain of coronavirus infection “Delta”, Indian doctors associate symptoms that are usually not found in patients with covid.
In the UK, preliminary evidence suggests that the current dominant strain leads to higher hospitalization risks.
“Obviously, this strain acts a little differently,” said Professor Tim Spector.
The scientist compared the common symptoms of “Delta” with the signs of the common “seasonal cold”. It turned out that the manifestations of both diseases often coincide, as a result of which people can completely ignore them.
Young people are likely to have “less severe symptoms” that can “manifest as a severe cold or a strange illness,” the professor said.
At the same time, Tim Spector advised people who are feeling unwell to undergo a PCR test. It is best to stay at home until the test results are available.
