by alex

Streaming service HBO Max, starting in the fall, will launch in previously not covered European markets, according to Variety, citing representatives of WarnerMedia. The first countries in which the platform will launch soon will be Spain and the Scandinavian countries, and in 2022 HBO Max is slated to launch in Portugal, Central and Eastern Europe. It is not reported whether the service will start in Russia.

“We want to offer consumers competitive pricing and a flexible way to access our products — both through direct sales and through an established network of regional distribution partners,” said Christika Souleback, CEO of HBO Max Europe, Middle East and Africa.

HBO Max launched in March 2020 in the US and Latin America. In Russia, the rights to stream individual films exclusive to HBO Max in the American region belong to the services Kinopoisk and Okko. Among the expected service exclusives is the Game of Thrones prequel called House of the Dragon.
