Harvard professor Avi Loeb published a new column in a scientific journal in which he described the hypothesis that the interstellar asteroid Oumuamua could be a “data collector” for aliens.
The asteroid Oumuamua was discovered in 2017. It was marked by an unusual trajectory of movement. It turned out that the object moves from outside the solar system, passes through its central regions, and then leaves it again.
The media note that Professor Avi Loeb, who develops the hypothesis about the artificial origin of the asteroid, is distinguished by his eccentricity. Nevertheless, his column was published in Scientific American.
In it, the professor writes that the appearance of Oumuamua is associated with the latest reports of the American military about encounters with UFOs. “Oumuamua rotates as it moves through space, suggesting that its wide, flat surfaces carry equipment to pick up signals from any hidden sensors that may have been dropped by previous probes,” the scientist said.
Loeb believes that earlier extraterrestrial civilizations could have thrown many autonomous probes into the earth's atmosphere.
