Lewis Hamilton at the Met Gala.
Lewis Hamilton draws attention at the Met Gala. Not without reason. The Formula 1 star has a mission.
Mercedes superstar Lewis Hamilton is known for his daring outfits in the paddock. For the British, fashion is more than just a hobby. It's a passion.
Hamilton: “I'm grateful that I'm still alive” – his bad accident in Monza
Hamilton proved this once more at the Met Gala. The Formula 1 driver arrives in an extraordinary outfit just two days after his serious crash at the Italian Grand Prix.
The 36-year-old wears a dress-like shirt made of lace under his suit that reaches down to his calves.
It was designed by Kenneth Nicholson. He is one of several designers that Hamilton invited to the gala. Hamilton wants to set an example. Guests sit at his table (price: 25,400 euros): Nicholson, Law Roach (stylist), Theophilio and Jason Rembert (both designers), model Alton Mason, singer Kehlani and the athletes Miles Chamley-Watson and Sha'Carri Richardson.
The racing driver wants to offer dark skinned people a bigger stage in the fashion world. Like motorsport, this industry is predominantly white and male-dominated.
