Hamas was preparing a new massive attack on Israel – The Washington Post

The situation in the Middle East remains difficult.

Hamas was preparing for a second massive attack on Israel. Thus, the militants planned to cause a crisis in the region and break Israel’s ties with Arab countries.

This was reported by The Washington Post.

As the publication notes, the collected evidence suggests that the terrorist organization was preparing for deeper attacks.

“They were planning a second phase, including in major Israeli cities and military bases,” said one Israeli official.

Some militants had enough food, ammunition and equipment to last them for several days, officials said. Their intentions were also to advance deep into Israel if the first wave of attacks was successful, potentially targeting major Israeli cities.

“Hamas assault teams managed to penetrate as far as the Israeli town of Ofakim, located 15 miles from the Gaza Strip and approximately half the distance between the enclave and the West Bank,” the report said.

Analysts say Hamas meticulously planned and prepared for the massacre of Israeli civilians on such a scale as to provoke the Israeli government into sending troops into Gaza. To achieve this, Hamas conducted ground and underground military exercises throughout the Gaza Strip.

According to intelligence reports, Hamas fighters trained with imported AK-47 assault rifles, pistols, grenade launchers and thermobaric rounds.

What is the situation in the Gaza Strip

It should be noted that the IDF stated that the IDF fighter and aircraft carried out strikes on a number of terrorist targets belonging to the terrorist organization Hezbollah.

The White House urged Israel to avoid fighting near hospitals in Gaza.

Meanwhile, the United Nations said its office in the Gaza Strip came under fire last night.
