Leader of the Islamist Palestinian group HAMAS Yahya Sinwar escaped from northern Gaza, taking refuge in a humanitarian convoy heading south.

This was stated by an unnamed Israeli official, writes The Times of Israel.

“Sinwar fled Gaza City and headed to Khan Younis in the south of the enclave in a vehicle that provided “humanitarian cover,” the official noted, adding that more precise information about the vehicle has not yet been made public.

Israel estimates that Sinwar is still in Khan Yunis, including in one of the tunnels running under the city.

The Israel Defense Forces are expanding their ground operations throughout the Gaza Strip. The Israeli military will conduct an operation against Hamas strongholds.

On December 2, Israel's Defense Minister said the IDF was resuming hostilities in the Gaza Strip after a negotiating team in Qatar was sent home because negotiations to continue the truce had reached a “deadlock.”
