The researchers studied the consequences of the transferred coronavirus infection in people who were admitted to hospitals in the third wave of the pandemic.
In total, 253 patients with an average age of 60 years were hospitalized in five days. Ethnically, they were Hispanic, white and black people. More than half of the patients (54.9%) said that they noticed new symptoms or worsening of cardiopulmonary symptoms. 16% of study participants reported problems with oxygen consumption.
84.2% of patients said that they do not feel fully recovered after COVID-19 – they cannot function in the same way as they did before the disease. 52.8% of people had new restrictions in everyday life
The researchers saw that longer hospital stays were associated with a greater likelihood of developing cardiopulmonary symptoms within a month.
