Therapist, candidate of medical sciences Aleksey Khukhrev said that the risk of contracting any infection increases under a number of factors that reduce immunity. He named habits that increase the likelihood of contracting coronavirus, Sputnik radio reports

First of all, chronic stress, lack of sleep and smoking increase the risk of contracting COVID-19. The doctor explained that the body is protected not only by the skin, but also by the mucous membranes, which affect the resistance to viral diseases.

“If a person smokes, the mucous membrane becomes irritated, inflamed, becomes thin, through it the virus enters the body much faster,” explained Khukhrev.

In addition, inappropriate eating behavior and its consequences, including heartburn, also increase the chance of contracting the coronavirus. With heartburn and insufficient water, acid burns the mucous membranes, leading to dryness and atrophy. Such a person is much more likely to suffer from viral diseases than a patient who monitors nutrition and water regime.

Lack of the habit of washing your hands before eating also increases your chances of contracting COVID-19, as it, like the flu, is spread through dirty hands. Dry air and indoor dust are also a risk factor. According to the doctor, at home it is necessary to regularly wet cleaning.

“If you rarely clean the apartment, do not humidify the air, do not ventilate the room and rarely change bedding, there will be more chances that your mucous membranes will be unhealthy and the virus will enter the body,” the therapist concluded.
