Not far from the city is the Russian Aerospace Forces base "Engels-2", where strategic bombers are located.
The drone attack on the city of Engels in the Russian Federation on the night of March 20 was carried out by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. Note that there is a military airfield near Engels.
This was reported by NV with reference to a source in the intelligence services.
“The interlocutor noted that the attack was carried out using Ukrainian-made drones,” the publication says.
Recall that at night about four explosions occurred on the territory of Engels, Saratov region of the Russian Federation. In particular, it was loud in the airfield area.
The local governor and the Russian Ministry of Defense reported the alleged downing of four drones in the skies over the Saratov region.
Note that the Russian Aerospace Forces base “Engels-2” is located not far from the city. Russian strategic bombers, in particular Tu-160 and Tu-95MS, are based at this military airfield. The enemy usually uses them for massive attacks on Ukraine.
