As a result of a successful operation, the GUR established control over several important web servers of Russian government portals.
On Thursday, December 12, cyber specialists of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine hacked several government websites of the Russian Federation. In particular, a message appeared on the State Duma website that Russia is a “mistake country” and does not exist.
This was reported by the OBOZ.UA publication, citing its own sources.
The message says that in this way the GUR congratulated the Russian Federation on Constitution Day.
As a sign of “greeting”, Ukrainian hackers who established control over several important web servers of Russian government portals posted banners with the text “The country Russia does not exist”.
Such an announcement appeared in particular on the websites of the State Duma and the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation.
In addition, a large-scale DDoS attack was carried out, which paralyzed the operation of these web resources and disabled the servers.
The GUR did not officially announce information about the cyber attack. However, Russian publics reported that a group of hackers had disabled web servers and compromised important databases.
Recall that earlier, GUR cyber specialists carried out a massive cyber attack on four Russian banks.
