Russian commentator Dmitry Guberniev reacted to the mass withdrawal of biathletes from the Izhevsk Rifle tournament. He noted that the arrival of doping officers was not necessarily the reason for the withdrawal of the athletes. He voiced his opinion on MATCH TV.
“Let's not blame the athletes unfounded. There may be other reasons for such actions. We all understand that we live in a “covid” time, ”he said. The journalist also added that he intends to contact the regional federations, the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) and the Ministry of Sports.
On January 4, it became known that 33 juniors, representing the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug and the Tyumen Region, withdrew from the tournament. President of the Biathlon Union Viktor Maygurov said that the incident did not go unnoticed by the organization. In addition, RUSADA will be investigating it.
