Dmitry Guberniev: the absence of NHL players at the Games in Beijing is my cheerleader pain

Match TV journalist and commentator Dmitry Guberniev, in an interview with Lenta.ru correspondent, assessed the decision of the National Hockey League (NHL) not to let players join the national teams to participate in the Beijing Olympics.
Guberniev admitted that he was upset and disappointed by the absence of NHL players at the Olympics. “The Olympics without NHL players is like a wedding without a bride. The strongest should play at the Olympics. And this decision of the NHL is my fan and journalistic pain. But you need to go to the site and win the Games, ”the journalist believes. He expressed hope that the Russian national team will be able to win the hockey tournament in a more confident manner than in 2018.
Guberniev also ridiculed the assumption of American journalist and insider Frank Seravalli, who suggests that such a position of the NHL could provoke the postponement of the Games to 2023. “Rather, the United States will be renamed the United States of Skhodnya. Do you seriously believe that the Olympics will be postponed a month before its start? A man sculpts humpbacks. The games will take place regardless of the NHL players. With all my love for this sport, people will watch cross-country skiing and biathlon with my great commentary, ”Guberniev is convinced.
The NHL's decision became known earlier on December 22. It is noted that it is dictated by the increased number of cases of infection of league players with coronavirus.
The Beijing Olympics will take place in February 2022.
