Eco-activists staged unauthorized protests and tried to block important roads in the city.
Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg added to her list of causes in police. On Saturday, April 6, she was detained twice by Dutch police for participating in unauthorized protests in The Hague.
NOS writes about this.
It is known that the day before, April 5, Thunberg announced her participation in the demonstration on the A12 motorway in The Hague on social networks.
Several hundred activists from the Extinction Rebellion organization tried to block an important highway connecting The Hague with Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Utrecht. However, the police did not allow them to do this.
Then some of the demonstrators blocked traffic on Zuid Hollandlaan and the intersection of Koningskade and Korte Voorhout roads. Others continued their protest in Maliveld Park in The Hague, one of the most popular places for rallies.
Greta Thunberg was among the demonstrators detained at Zuid Hollandlaan. This happened around 14:30 local time. But just over an hour later, she strangely appeared at Koningskade and joined the protesters who were sitting on the pedestrian crossing. However, at about 16:00 she was detained by police again.
Recall that in March Greta Thunberg participated in blocking the entrance to the Swedish parliament. The police had to forcefully push her away along with other protesters.
