Greece recognized “Sputnik V” on a par with vaccines from Europe

Greece has recognized the Russian Sputnik V vaccine on a par with drugs from Europe. This was stated by the Minister of Tourism of the country Haris Theocharis in an interview with RIA Novosti.

He admitted that those who visit the country can be vaccinated with both a European and a Russian drug. At the same time, Theocharis stressed that the coronavirus vaccine is not a prerequisite for entering Greece.

“It's just that the vaccinated do not need to be screened and bring a negative test for coronavirus … We really want our brothers from Russia to be able to visit our country. We recognize Sputnik V earlier than Europe does, ”the minister concluded.

According to him, Greece is glad that the Russian manufacturing company Sputnik V has submitted a request to the European Medicines Agency (EMA). Regardless of what the regulator decides, Athens plans to accept vaccination certificates not only with EMA-approved drugs.

Earlier, Greece also announced the full opening of borders for Russians from May 14, on one condition – upon entering the country, a tourist must present a certificate of the presence of antibodies or a negative PCR test, or he must be vaccinated with a Russian vaccine against coronavirus.
