“Gosuslugi” asked not to illustrate people on the service as citizens of “non-Slavic appearance”

In 2015, the Ministry of Digital Development and Mass Communications of Russia (Mintsifry) issued a guide to the corporate identity of the Gosuslug brand, which contains wording that confused users of social networks. This is a requirement not to use images of people of non-Slavic appearance.

As the source notes, the manual contains requirements for various images, photographs of people and emphasizes that “the heroes in the photo should look like people living in the territory of the Russian Federation.” Therefore, the requirement to impermissibly depict people of non-Slavic appearance has caused confusion among users of Russian social networks.

The Ministry of Digital Science has already recognized this formulation as incorrect and clarified that the corporate identity guide will be updated soon. “In the visual images that are broadcast in connection with the Gosuslug brand, we must focus on our main target audience. At the same time, we consider the wording in the brand book to be incorrect and are working on a new guideline. It will appear in the near future, ”the department noted.
