Last year, Google decided to move its production lines to northern Vietnam from China. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the company was never able to realize its plans.
Media reports that Google will manufacture its upcoming Pixel 6 series smartphones in China. The fact is that the governments of Asian countries have begun to tighten border controls due to the recent outbreak of COVID-19. As a result, Google will have to continue manufacturing in China.
At the same time, the Pixel 5 was also planned to be assembled in Vietnam, but this plan was not crowned with success due to restrictions at the border and other problems.
It is noted that Google is not the only company stuck in China. Apple also planned to move a small portion of its MacBook and iPad production line to Vietnam. But it didn't work out.
As a reminder, the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro are due out later in the fall.
