Moscow. August, 26th. INTERFAX.RU – Google has paid a fine of 3.5 million rubles imposed on it by the court for insufficient filtering of search results from content banned in the Russian Federation, Roskomnadzor reported.
The company was held liable under Art. 13.40 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (Failure to perform duties by the operator of the search engine), the department reported.
The Magistrates' Court of the Tagansky District of Moscow on May 27 found Google guilty of an administrative offense – insufficient filtering of search results on the territory of Russia from content prohibited in the Russian Federation.
The total amount of fines imposed against Google this year amounted to 32.5 million rubles, the RKN specified.
Roskomnadzor reported in May that “on average, Google does not remove from 20% to 30% of” dangerous “content from search results, including links to websites of terrorist and extremist organizations with child pornography and pages of online drug stores.
In total, 15 administrative protocols have been drawn up against Google LLC since the beginning of the year, which have been submitted to the court. 13 of them are currently considered by the court. In addition to the aforementioned fine for refusing to filter search results, 11 protocols were considered for not deleting prohibited content (Article 13.41 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation) for a total of 26 million rubles, one for refusing to localize personal data of Russians on the territory of the Russian Federation (Article 13.11 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation) , for which the company was fined 3 million rubles.
Google regularly pays fines imposed on it in the Russian Federation, after the entry of decisions on them into force. So, on March 10, the RKN reported that Google paid a fine of 3 million rubles, imposed by the court on December 17 for refusing to comply with the requirements for one hundred percent filtering of its search results from content prohibited in the Russian Federation.
Thus, taking into account the previously imposed fines, Google paid 8.7 million rubles for incomplete filtering of search results.
In 2019, an administrative case was initiated against Google for failure to remove prohibited content from search results (the amount of the fine was 700 thousand rubles, the fine was paid). On May 25, 2020, the company was fined for a repeated violation (part 2.1 of article 13.40 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation) by 1.5 million rubles, which it also paid.
For failure to remove content banned in the Russian Federation on the Internet, that is, under Article 13.41 of the Administrative Code, Google, as well as other companies, including domestic ones, began to fine this year in large numbers.
