On the eve of the Munich Security Conference, the Google Threat Analysis Group (TAG) stated that Russia would continue to organize information attacks against Ukraine and Europe, and would also use IPSO targeting the population of the Russian Federation.

The report of the organization names three goals of information attacks: to discredit the Ukrainian government, to undermine assistance to Ukraine in the international arena, and to intensify support for the war within Russia. To this end, they will use all possible resources – from state media to anonymous sites.
Google also noted the activity of Russian hackers. Their attacks in Ukraine began a year before the full-scale invasion, and in 2022 their number increased by 250% compared to 2020. During the same period, the number of attacks on users in NATO countries increased by 300%.
Research revealed that the hacking activity of Russians correlates with key events at the front – in particular, with the start of a full-scale invasion and the announcement of mobilization.
In 2022, government and military organizations, as well as critical infrastructure objects, were the main targets of attacks by Russian hackers , utilities and the media. Some of the attacks were helped by Google experts.
Recall that earlier Microsoft Threat Intelligence Center discovered a hacker group using ransomware to attack transport and logistics companies in Ukraine and Poland.
